Clark Center Presents: ABBA Mania
March 5 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
ABBA was a Swedish pop group, formed in 1972 by members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The group’s name derived from the first letter in their first names. During the band’s active years, Agnetha & Björn and Anna-Frid & Benny were married.
From 1974 to 1982, ABBA topped the charts worldwide and became one of the most successful acts in the history of popular music. Among their many hits were “Waterloo” (1974 Eurovision Contest winner), “Fernando”, “Dancing Queen”, “Super Trouper”, “Take a Chance on Me”, and “Winner Takes It All”.
ABBA’s music was adapted into the hit musical “Mamma Mia!” in 1999. The 2008 film adaptation, starring Meryl Streep, also became a critical and financial success. The sequel “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, starring Cher, was released in 2018.
